I met Javi last year on a trip to Costa Rica, at the time he was managing Matos Surf, a surf shop in Tamarindo. The surf was flat and I had folded a fin on the only groveler that I had on the trip. Long story short, I took the board to the shop to get repaired ‘overnight’ and 3 days later, the board was being held hostage at a glass shop an hour up the road and I had to split town to catch my plane. Kinda funny really. I ended up leaving the board and some Quiky gear with Javi, who was amped. We stayed in touch, and few weeks back he hit me up to order a new board. Same basic Compactor model, only this time XPS/Epoxy with a rounded pin. Above are some pics of Javi slashing at Grande as well as his freshy.
